Joie I-Gemm Capsule + Base Pavement

Bought two for my wife's car for our twins, easy to use and good price so I bought two more for my car

We were recommended this seat in-store as an easy to access option for my partner's mobilty difficulties. Bearing in mind this is the first capsule I've used I don't like it at all. It takes up quite a lot of space in the car, is fiddly to tighten the strap that goes around the capsule, and baby seems to sit quite curled up resulting in the breathing monitor giving a warning. Obviously positional asphyxiation is a very real concern for babies in car seats so because we're assured the capsule is safe and can't return it we don't take baby anywhere unless we absolutely have to and I'm able to sit in the back to ensure safety. I thought maybe being premmie was the issue but even though bubs is now over 5kg and sits better I still don't like the positioning and bubs' breathing monitor still alerts though less often. My partner insists this seat wouldn't be sold unless safe and that makes sense but I still think the amount of reduced breathing alerts is very concerning, and considering I'm not the only person with this kind of feedback maybe it's worth looking into.

We bought this capsule in November 2024 before our baby was born. Who new that a product sold by a leading baby-and-kid-products store could sell such an UNSAFE capsule!!!! I never had to check the reviews on Baby Bunting's website because I believed that Baby Bunting is a group of professionals and know their products and provide a knowledgeable advice. All the other reviews that are saying that baby’s head is too bent forward down to his/her chest are correct!!! It looks very DANGEROUS as if the baby is suffocating!! The five short necessary medical appointments we took our baby to using this capsule were accompanied by me worrying about whether the baby is able to breath! I thought I was imagining this but after checking reviews online and seeing how many people have the same experience I got even more worried! THIS PRODUCT SHOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE TO CONSUMERS at all !!

Absolutely a horrible capsule! My baby is only 3.5 months old, generally a happy bub. But as soon as he is placed in this capsule he screams non stop. The comfort rate is horrid, hard and thin. Meant to be suitable for 0-12 months and he’s already at full adjustment. I would never recommend this capsule to anyone. I only purchased as I thought this time a capsule may be easier and staff employee recommend this capsule. It’s not worth the money you pay!! Needs to taken off the market.

I would give this 0 stars if it was an option. Very disappointed staff aren’t better aware of the poor safety ratings and reviews thus capsule gets. Wish it was never recommended for our newborn. Very regretful purchase.

The head to neck position is the safest position for baby to be in in case of n accident it protects the head and neck from serious injury upon impact. Lots of reviewers complaining about this but they need to check the safety guidelines for babies in capsules. This is the best and safest.

My baby is almost 4 months old, very happy baby until I put her in this capsule she screams like she is in pain. Come here to check reviews and product and turns out a lot of customers are experiencing this. Like others I’ve always been worried about her neck/head to her chest and the padding is hard and awful for her. I’m now on the hunt for a new car seat, and cannot even sell this second hand etc as I would not want another baby in this capsule.

I bought this 4 years ago and have used for two babies now. First Bub we got 5months use out of it as Bub had reached the height markers, second Bub is now 11 months old and we are just about to transition out. It has been a life saver especially with two kids in tow being able to easily attach capsule to pram frame.

Terrible capsule. The position it puts the baby in is dangerous and uncomfortable, with the chin completely flopped on to the chest. Our baby is not small or large- perfectly average size. We had the capsule professionally installed. No adjustment of the foam or liners makes it a safe, comfortable position. We only bought this as the staff member in store talked us in to a package with the Uppa baby vista but it was never used as a capsule with the pram because of how dangerous the positioning is. Would avoid this capsule at all costs as we had to buy another one when our baby was 4 weeks old, and now have this sitting around collecting dust. Just wish I'd read the reviews on this before buying!

Do not buy this seat, I was recommended this from a store employee, puts chin to chest hard to get in and out of car, wish I would of read reviews

We’ve been using this car seat for 3 months now and it’s absolutely great. The adaptability to our needs is what makes it for us. I use it with my Milly+Coup pram via adapters while the little one is sleeping for quick in and out of the car. It feels secure and I know my baby is safe when he’s in the car seat. The only thing I would say to look out for is, if you have a smaller back space in your car, the front seat does become very much only suitable for a shorter adult or teen as the seats base and bracket take up a lot of room. We currently have a Mazda CX-30 and will be upgrading to a larger car as we have no space for a front passenger or a rear middle passenger. Overall highly recommend!

Love everything except the tether strap is very tricky to get into the correct position with the lack of extension. Otherwise fantastic and fits the Edwards and co Oscar pram.

Like most of the other reviews here, my baby is so uncomfortable in this seat and screams the whole time. Her chin is forced to her chest, and I worry she can't breathe properly. It's like it's just made the wrong shape. You can't get the seatbelt straps to sit above the shoulders because of the NON removeable headrest. Would not recommend this and it should be taken off the market. I didn't read these reviews before purchase because I bought it as a package deal with my pram and I thought a capsule is a capsule but no. Now I'm stuck with it.

I personally found the inserts, padding etc too stiff and firm/hard. The head rest part didn't seem to have much cushioning if any on the inside for babys head. It seemed like he was squashed and sitting in an awkward position no matter what we tried. I don't think we would have got 12 months use out of it as it didn't seem like he had a lot of room to grow. This is just my personal opinion and every family/bub is different, this particular capsule just didn't work for us.

Not too fussed if the capsule doesn't last until 12 months as I just want it to protect my baby while he's newborn. We had newborn to 4yr old car seats for out first and they just seems way too big for a newborn. Love Joie, their style is just so much nicer then the common brands
